Production of Royal Jelly
Royal Jelly is usually produced in colonies maintained for that purpose. The
queen bee is removed and a frame containing artificial queen cells, each with a
12-36 hour old worker inserted. Three days later the frame is removed, the
larvae discarded, and the Royal Jelly collected either with a wooden spoon or a
soft suction tube.
Immediately after extraction the fresh Royal Jelly is put into small bottles
and quick frozen at -25deg C. It is then inspected, filtered, packed and stored
in cold storage, or freeze dried. Royal Jelly Powder is made from the freeze
dried material, and has the highest potency of the Royal Jelly preparations.
